Chinese New Year Celebration  Sanctuary/classrooms. Guest artists: Erhu vituoso, Lin Zhantao; the Wah Lum; and guzheng artists, Megan Savoy and her father Philip. Worship leader: Rev. Jackie Clement. Childcare for infants and toddlers provided from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at no charge. Religious education for children begins at 10:30 when everyone gathers in the sanctuary. Chinese buffet at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall; $6 donation

Worship service/religious education  Sanctuary. Guest Anne D’Urso-Rose will lead our worship service, The topic will be Cosmic Zoom, the universe on a micro- and macro-scale. Ms. D’Urso-Rose, a long time resident of Malden, is Assistant Director at Malden Access TV and the newest Trustee of the Malden Library. Childcare for infants and toddlers provided from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at no charge. Religious education for children begins at 10:30 when everyone gathers in the sanctuary. Coffee and conversation at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall; bring brunch food to share.

Artist’s Reception  Gallery at Elm Street. Come celebrate our artist-in-residence, Stephanie Mahan Stigliano, and view her completed work along with works completed by participants in last month’s printmaking and bookmaking workshops.

First Parish Book Club Dennis Library. Discussion of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. New members welcome!  

Sunday, February 21, 10:30 a.m. 
Japanese Girls’ Festival  Sanctuary/classrooms. Join in the celebration of the Japanese Girls’ Festival, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Also known as the Doll Festival (Hinamatsuri), the celebration features a seven tier display celebrating the lives of girls and wishing them health and happiness. The service features First Parish  Music Director and Soprano Soloist Mariko Matsumura. Ms. Joyce Rodenhiser leads the service.

Childcare for infants and toddlers provided from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at no charge. Religious education for children begins at 10:30 when everyone gathers in the sanctuary. Coffee and conversation at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall; bring brunch food to share

Boston Drum Circle  Fellowship Hall. Join the rhythm of the sacred drumming circle with master drummer, dancer, and teacher Kelle Sparta and the Boston Drum Circle. Drummers, dancers, and singers of all abilities are welcome along with older children and teens. Drums and rhythm instruments are available to share. $7 donation requested. Visit Meetup.com/Boston-Drum-Circle to join the Meetup group! The drum circle gathers the third Sunday of every month.

Issues of Immigration worship service/religious education  The service features hymns, readings and testimony that touch the issue of immigrant rights. It is led by the Task Force on Immigration from our neighboring Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford. They have been working around immigration for the past year and a half, and this morning speak to us of their efforts. Worship Leader: Karen Lynch. Childcare for infants and toddlers provided from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at no charge. Seeing the Spaces worship service/religious education  Sanctuary/classrooms. As we enter the season of Lent, Guest Minister Rev. Abigail Stockman considers what meaning we might find in this holy season of “doing without.” The Rev. Ms. Stockman has served Unitarian Universalist congregations in Maryland and New York. Currently she resides in northern Vermont. One of her pleasures as a Unitarian Universalist is embracing the wider - Unitarian and Universalist - meanings and practices of holy seasons such as Lent.
